Matau - Fish hook According to Maori mythology a Fish Hook (or Hei Matau) made from Whale bone was used to haul up the North Island of New Zealand.

The Fish Hook represents strength, determination and abundance and brings good luck and safe passage to the wearer, particularly when travelling over water.
